What is "thread count"?
Thread count is often considered a simple measure of fabric quality.
Thread count is a term that indicates a measure of fabric construction per sq cm. Standard sheets have thread counts under 180 per sq cm, while good-quality sheets start at 225 thread and a count of 300 thread or higher is considered absolute luxury. We carry a range of thread counts from 225 to 1000.
In general, the higher the thread count, the softer and more luxurious the fabric feels, but that doesn't necessarily mean the sheets will last longer (and sheets with a higher thread count are usually more expensive).
Lower thread counts like 250 thread percales and 500 Egyptian cotton percales are crisp and cool whereas higher thread counts such as 600 and 1000 thread sateens are softer, heavier and more luxurious.
