Bed sheets are one of the most important aspects of your bedroom. They come into direct contact with your skin for long durations of time, and are typically something you'll use till they wear out, so it makes sense to invest in good quality from the start.
Myth debunked: There is no evidence to confirm silk fabric is responsible for the reduction of wrinkles.
Despite popular belief, there is no scientific evidence to confirm that silk pillowcases reduce the appearance of wrinkles. However, smooth fabrics, like silk, satin and bamboo-cotton blends can help prevent sleep-creases from forming, which can help prevent forming of new wrinkles. Fabrics like silk, and silky-smooth alternatives such as bamboo or tencel, also possess natural anti-bacterial properties, meaning they can help prevent acne developing further and stay fresh longer between washes.
Good sheets also need to feel the way we want them to against our skin so that falling asleep isn't interrupted by scratchy or threadbare fabric. Bamboo sheets aren't our best-selling sheets just because they are easy maintenance, but because they feel seriously silky and are extraordinarily durable.
For those that like a "crisp" sheet feel, we recommend opting for a cotton percale sheet set.
We can't exclude 100% cotton sheets - they are reliable, durable, and are known as a go-to option on the market. If you can't be swayed from the feeling of all-cotton fabric, make sure you are still investing in good quality cotton, as not all sheets are made the same. Shop with trusted brands, and pay attention to how it feels over thread count.
Our last recommendation is flannelette sheets, the perfect option for winter, and seriously soft against the skin. Flannelette sheets are known for their softness and warmth. Make sure to avoid the dryer with these to prevent the effects of pilling on the surface of the fabric.
