What size bed sheets should I buy for my king bed?
While some bedding can be sized up, bed sheets should be bought according to the size of your mattress. That means if you have a king bed you should opt for king bed sheets. King bed mattresses typically measure 183cm x 203cm, so bed sheets bought for your king bed should measure around 183cm x 203cm for a fitted sheet, and 285cm x 274cm for a flat sheet.
It is also important to consider the depth of your mattress before purchasing your fitted sheet. Standard king sheet size are typically 33cm to 40cm deep. These will comfortably fit a standard king bed mattress. If you have a pillow top or a pillow top and bottom king bed mattress however, you may need to consider a deeper fitted sheet. The two sizes to fit deeper mattresses are:
- Mega King bed sheets - These are 50cm deep and will generally fit a pillow top king mattress.
- Deluxe King bed sheets - These are 60cm deep and will fit pillow top and bottom king mattresses.
